Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue Board fills Fire Commissioner vacancy by appointing Ron Helmonds
PORT LUDLOW, September 8, 2009 —The Board of Fire Commissioners for Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue voted at their regular September Board meeting to appoint Mr. Ron Helmonds to the position # 3 seat left vacant after the resignation of Mike Porter. Mr. Helmonds was sworn in by Karen Cartmel, Chief Deputy Auditor of Jefferson County.
Commissioner Helmonds has been attending Fire Commissioner meetings at the district for the past year and had registered as a candidate for election in June. He is the sole candidate running for election for the position # 3 seat in the upcoming general election.
With nearly 30 years of retail business experience, owning and operating a chain of furniture stores in California, Commissioner Helmonds believes that his knowledge in the areas of real estate and business management as well as personnel and policy making can be a benefit to the board and fire district community.
Helmonds lives in the Shine area with his wife Debbie.
Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue is a full service emergency services provider covering 53 square miles of Jefferson County. Operating out of three fire stations, they provide fire, rescue and emergency medical services and transport at both basic and paramedic levels.
